In Italy the growth rate of individual enterprises of foreign citizens is 3,4%, a data by Unioncamere that indicates Lombardy as the most appropriate region to start a business.
During 2017, the increase in Italian companies is represented by 42% by companies with foreign owners, for a total of 590,000 companies registered throughout Italy. Among the foreign entrepreneurs the most consistent origin is from North Africa (especially Morocco) , followed by China and Eastern Europe (especially Romania). Many of these activities have helped to prevent the regional balance from being negative at the end of the year 2017, especially in Tuscany, Veneto, Liguria, Marche; in the cases of Piedmont and Emilia-Romagna, the balance was negative but with a good contrast to the closure of Italian activities, a trend in progress.

About the type of business and the fastest growing sectors, the main activities open on the national territory are retail shop.Even the specialized construction with 109.000companies (21%) is a very present sector, followed by catering and restaurant services, with over 43.000 units, equal to 11% of the entire sector.
